What is an agricultural dataspace.
An agricultural dataspace is a collaboration environment where farmers, companies, researchers, and public authorities can share agricultural data with each other under agreed rules, while still keeping control over their data.
The goal is to allow data to be used more effectively to improve agriculture, innovation, and sustainability.
What Dataspaces may offer to countries like Cyrpus and Greece.
An agricultural dataspace can offer significant benefits to countries like Cyprus and Greece, especially because their agricultural sectors are characterised by many small farms, diverse crops, and strong links to local and export markets.
- Better decision-making for farmers
- New digital services for agriculture
- Stronger collaboration across the agricultural value chain
- Better access to European markets and innovation networks
- More efficient public policies and agricultural support
- Support for sustainability and climate adaptation
What is the AgriDataSpace.cy
AgriDataSpace.cy is an initiative aiming to promote and develop agricultural data sharing in Cyprus and Greece, supporting the transition towards a data-driven agri-food sector. The initiative seeks to initiate dialogue and raise awareness about agricultural dataspaces among farmers, businesses, researchers, and public authorities, as both countries are still at an early stage in adopting the data economy.
In the medium term, AgriDataSpace.cy aims to evolve into a trusted data-sharing hub, enabling secure and interoperable exchange of agricultural data while remaining fully compliant with relevant European regulations and standards.
The initiative will also support stakeholders in adopting a data-sharing culture, providing guidance, tools, and collaboration opportunities that help farmers, businesses, and public institutions participate in data ecosystems and benefit from data-driven innovation.
The AgriDataSpace.cy is an initiative driven by GreenSupplyChain Applications and Embio Diagnostics.
